Service Rifles

U.S. Military Rifles are our passion. We offer services primarily devoted to the M1 Garand and M14, as well as for the 1903/03A3 Springfield and M1 Carbine. Scroll down for a complete listing and pricing information.

  • M1 Garands

The battle proven M1 Garand has seen service all over the world, and is one of the finest service rifles ever designed. If you ever want to know what a firearm can mean to someone, look into the eyes of a veteran who carried one of these rifles. You may see reflections of time served in hard places together, and you will see admiration and respect for a tool that may have saved their life.

As a consequence of the many years of service most of the rifles have seen, they can be in pretty rough shape. A large number of M1's have been released through the CMP, and many more have been imported after being used by allied nations in the years after Word War II. Often, the barrels on these import rifles may have significant defects such as excessive wear pitting, crown damage, and even straightness issues. Stocks can range from serviceable to terrible. We offer restoration and repair services to bring these weary M1's back to as new condition.

    • Technical Inspection: Have your rifle checked out for serviceability. We inspect for safe functioning,  proper sight adjustment and timing, headspace, throat erosion, gas system erosion, operating parts and contact area wear, and test fire to establish zero and verify accuracy within acceptance standards. $65
    • Rebarreling: We stock Douglas standard weight barrels in both .30-06 and 7.62 NATO. These barrels are 4 Groove, with a 1-10" twist rate. Standard finish is Mil-Spec parkerizing, but barrels can also be had in abrasive blasted natural steel finish. Price is $370 including Installation. We can also install customer supplied barrels for $90.
    • Recrowning: Many barrels which may not be shot out have damaged crowns which lead to poor accuracy. This is often due to repeated cleaning during service with steel cleaning rods. A large number of these barrels can be brought back to serviceable condition by recrowning. First, we check the barrel in question for runout and  erosion, and if found to be a candidate for recrowning,  we cut a new GI profile crown concentric to the bore of the barrel. This often will bring a previously inaccurate rifle within acceptable standards, with the best results seen so far resulting in a 1 MOA  service grade rifle with match ammunition.
    • Parkerizing: We offer Mil-Spec manganese phosphate parkerizing to restore weary and worn rifles to their original glory. Each rifle is completely disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and degreased, and then abrasive blasted with special care taken not to disturb any orginal stamping or proofs. All bores and gas ports are plugged during the parkerizing process. Gas cylinders and other stainless steel parts are finished with a special matte black heat resistant coating, much more durable than the original black oxide finish. After parkerizing, all parts are placed in water displacing oil to seal the finish, recleaned, and reassembled.  Price is $100.
    • New Stock Fitting: We use semi inlet stock sets cut by Macon Gunstocks. We have found them to be very true to the original stock contours, with great wood grades. We fit and finish all of our stocks in house, and hand rub each stock with tung oil.Stocks are available in walnut  and maplefrom standard to extra fancy grade. Cost for Standard grade walnut installed on your rifle is $320,  please inquire for pricing on fancy grades.
